Meet the Tokyo Linen Trouser
Finding the right pair of trousers isn’t easy… especially if you have an hourglass or pear shape. Sadly, it’s often a case of choosing either comfort, or choosing style. But what if you want both?
That’s why the Tokyo Linen Trouser has been such a hit in our range for more than six years. From the first release, and in every release since, it has consistently been one of our most popular pieces in each collection.
The challenge of finding the right trousers
Wide leg trousers are so comfortable to wear. But, if you have a pear or an hourglass shape, the trousers will fall from your widest point - your hips - creating a block look. That’s probably not the look you’re going for.
The other problem that you can encounter with trousers is the placement of the pockets. It is much simpler and more cost effective to create pockets as a slit in the side seam. However, if you have curves, this style of pocket will stick out and cause a boxy shape.
Then there’s the waistbands that sit in the wrong place, bulky zippers, elastic that is too tight and all the other reasons why finding the right trousers often falls in the too-hard basket.
Four reasons to love the Tokyo Linen Trousers
It’s one thing to have a comfortable garment but it’s another to have a comfortable garment that is really flattering for your body shape. Comfortable clothes to flatter are what we do best at Eva Cassis.
If you’ve been nodding along to the above and you’re still on the search for the perfect trousers, then you are going to LOVE the Tokyo Linen Trousers. Here’s four reasons why:
-
The cut is designed to be flattering on all shapes. The leg is cropped and tapered. The accentuates the slimmest part of your leg - your ankle - and creates a diamond shape which draws the eyes down without that big boxy look of a standard wide leg trouser.
-
The pockets are both functional and flattering. The pockets in the Tokyo Linen Trousers sit on the front rather than the side of the leg. This not only ensures the side seams sit nicely but it also helps to create a beautiful line that sculpts your hip area.
-
The waistband is a really wide elastic. This width is not only comfortable but also helps to create a cinched look. Even if you don’t have much of a waist it will still nip you in.
- The front is simple, classic and flat. This means that you can both tuck tops into the waistband or wear them over the top without creating unnecessary bulk and volume to your shape.
The Tokyo Linen Trouser range
Usually you will only find one or two colours of the Tokyo Linen Trousers in our collection. But, given the popularity and demand, in this collection we have four different choices available.
Black Linen
Since the first Tokyo Linen Trousers were released, we’ve had requests to make them in black… and we’ve finally done it!
The black linen used in these trousers is a thicker, more heavyweight linen but it’s breathable to wear all year round - summer and winter. The fabric has a smooth finish and offers slightly more structure than the other Tokyo varieties.
If you’re between sizes, it’s best to size up with the black linen as it doesn’t have the same give.
Charcoal Stripe Linen
The Charcoal Stripe is a new fabric for the Tokyo Linen Trouser. It is soft and flowy, which shows off the diamond shape of the taper.
What is so special about this fabric is the subtle colours within the stripe. You’ll see fine blue stripes with slight green and charcoal lines which will allow you to pair the trousers back with so many different colours.
Indigo Linen
The Indigo Linen sold out quickly the last time it was released. And in a recent poll on Instagram, it was voted as the most popular choice, followed closely by the Charcoal Stripe!
It’s a gorgeous dark blue shade that will work well dressed up with a white blouse or dressed down with a cotton t-shirt and sneakers.
Dark Flax Linen
It’s quite rare to find black in the Eva Cassis range - that’s why it’s taken so long for the Tokyo Linen Trousers to come out in black! But the Dark Flax is our answer to black. This is another popular restock.
This fabric is a black fibre woven with natural flax. It’s not so much of a brown colour, but more like a warm grey. Style this version with a brown ankle boot and more subtle colours for the perfect Autumn look!
